Rhode Island

In terms of size, Rhode Island is the smallest state in the US with an approximate area of 1,214 square miles. Despite its small size, it has a pretty lengthy coastline at 400 miles in Newport. It is also one of the states that were the original colonies in the US. Among the states that it shares borders with are Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut. It is home to 10 beaches and 15 state parks. While the number of marathon events in Rhode Island shy in comparison to other states, there is a good variety of these races for all skill levels of runners.
