Iowa
The state of Iowa is bordered by two major rivers in the US: the Mississippi River and the Missouri River. Known as the Hawkeye State, there are three state universities in Iowa: Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa, and the University of Iowa. The state is home to many unique attractions such as the Buddy Holly crash site and the Swinging Bridge. While there are not as many marathon race events in Iowa held every year, there are also a few notable events including a few Boston Marathon qualifiers.
